Grille Guard or Bumper Replacement?
Grille Guard or Bumper Replacement?
So ya wanna protect the front of your truck, huh? But you’re not sure exactly how you wanna go about it? Well that’s fine champ, hop up in to Uncle Jaybirds lap and I’ll lay down some options for ya.
Let’s start at the bottom of the ladder in terms of front end protection. For that, allow me to introduce you to the humble bull bar, or nudge bar for those that so choose that nomenclature. The common bull bar will do the job of providing the least amount of front end protection while also offering the easiest install and typically the least financially challenging. That’s how I say it’s cheaper than a grille guard or bumper. You can even get them with integrated led lights so they’ll provide a little more function than simply a piece of metal between your truck and whatever nature wants to wreck your day with.
MOVING ON!!! Next up the ladder in front end protection will be your grille guard, also known as a grill guard because the English language is a mystery to anyone who utters a syllable. These can provide quite a bit more protection than your bull bar in the event that you need it to do its job. They typically come up much higher on the front end and cover the headlights and front portion of the fenders. And in my humble opinion they make the front of a truck look a little better so we’ll give the grille guard some style points too. Also, in some applications you can get a winch mount in that dude if one were so inclined. That can be a pretty handy alternative to a full on replacement bumper if you are just looking for more functionality without changing the entire look of your truck. And you can stick some light bars or pods on there because we’re trying to light the world up one truck at a time brother.
Finally we arrive at our coup de grâce. Are you wanting to protect the front of your truck from a sabertooth tiger? Legions of Orks as they storm the gates of Helm’s Deep? No? Oh a deer? That makes more sense. A full on front replacement bumper provides the most protection to the front of your vehicle when compared to a bull bar or grille guard. Dear citizen, you would be shocked at the flimsiness of factory bumpers these days and basically anything aftermarket is a nigh exponential increase in terms of protection and stuff. They have more options in terms of coverage and style. Just want a base bumper that doesn’t cover your emblem so everyone knows you drive a GentleMan’s Chevy? No problem. Want a winch mount bumper that covers up to the hood line? They have one for that too. Do you want a grumper? No, no you don’t. Want a bumper that you can double stack 20″ light bars in for some damn reason? That also exists.
So there ya go, a brief cross section of the available options for front end protection for your truck, Jeep or SUV. And wouldn’t ya know it, Off-Road King is more than happy to satisfy your front end protection needs. We can fit you to your desired needs for function and aesthetics. All you have to do it call, or come by, or drive your truck through the front of our store. But a call would be easier. K love you bye.
