Lighting Controllers
Lighting Controllers
First off, I’m gonna make fetch happen. There, I said it. Ya know what looks awful? A ton of wires for lighting and accessories going every which way. I’m talking terrible looking buttons stuck to the dash with double sided tape. Butt connectors connecting different colored wires. Wires draped over engine components. Fuses? Who needs fuses? There are a myriad of ways to not perform a wiring job. Lucky for you, end user of vehicle lighting, we at Off-Road King have the skills, solutions and experience to get you wired up the correct way!
What is a lighting controller you may be asking yourself. Furthermore, why do I need one? A lighting controller is a power distribution system for vehicles to use to control accessory lighting, or another electrical component that requires a switch but doesn’t have a high amp draw. Example, air lockers. Boo air lockers but that’s for a different section. A controller allows the user to consolidate their wiring into a single location. See pics below. A single block houses your fuses, relays and mounting positions for your wires.
The idea is that you run all of your lighting wiring to the control block, and your switch panel wires are also run to the block. These setups can range from typically six to eight circuits so you can have that many more powered accessories. This eliminates unsightly wires hanging all over the place and covering your battery terminals with unnecessary connections. Don’t be this guy.
Ya see, it’s a safety and aesthetics thing. A controller increases safety by consolidating the wires in a way that doesn’t look like Jackson Pollock did a painting of an octopus orgy. They come to a central block for power, then to the switches in a clean install mitigating the possibility of bad grounds, loose connections and straight up confusion from having wires going ever which way. So there ya go, lighting controllers. Do you have a wiring mess that looks like a cartoon fight? Do you want it to look nice and neat and not embarrassing? Then give us a holler or stop by and see how we can help you untangle the angle of your dangle. That makes no sense. K love you bye.
